Leonard Evans Dies From Wreck Injury
Injuries received in an automobile accident early Sunday morning resulted in the death of Leonard Evans of Minneapolis, Minn., son of Mr. and Mrs. Bert Evans of this city, about 11 o'clock Wednesday morning in the Ottawa, Kan. hospital.
Evans had not regained consciousness since the accident when he received a skull fracture that resulted in concussion of the brain. His wife, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H.F. Kimball, was uninjured.
Mr. and Mrs. Evans were enroute to Ponca City for a visit with their parents. Evans, who was driving, became blinded by the lights of an oncoming truck and hit a snow bank. The car skidded back across the highway into the path of the truck.
The Miles funeral directors left at noon today for Ottawa for the body which will be brought to Ponca City for funeral services.
Other Ponca City relatives are two brothers, J.D. and Paul Evans; a sister, Mrs. Horace Pigg; andhis grandmother, Mrs. J.D. Steele.

Evans Rites to Be Conducted Friday
Funeral services for Leonard E. Evans, 24, who died Wednesday in an Ottawa, Kan., hospital of injuries received in an automobile accident, will be held at 3 o'clock Friday afternoon at the Christian Church, with the Rev. M. Owen Kellison officiating. Interment will be in the IOOF Cemetery under the direction of the Miles funeral home.
Born in Ponca City, Evans had lived here all of his life until he recently became associated with the Great Lakes Pipeline company and was stationed in Minneapolis, Minn. Prior to this, he had worked at the Bert and Ben service station for about two years following his graduation from the Ponca City high school in 1932.
With his wife, the former Miss Ethelda Kimball, whom he married in 1937, he was enroute to Ponca City for a visit with relatives when the accident occurred early Sunday morning near Ottawa. Mrs. Evans escaped injury.
Besides his widow, he is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bert Evans; two brothers, J.D. and Paul Evans; a sister, Mrs. Liberty Pigg, his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Steele, all of Ponca City, and several uncles and aunts.
