Ernest Allen Evans Is Taken By Death
Ernest Allen Evans, 61, who had lived all of his life in Kay County, died early this morning in the Ponca City Hospital, where he had been admitted Tuesday night.
Funeral services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of the E.M. Trout and Sons Funeral Home. The Rev. Chris Bachman, pastor of the First Church of God will officiate, assisted by the Rev. Carlton D. Garrison, minister of the First Christian Church. Burial will be in the IOOF Cemetery.
Evans was born Feb 18, 1898 on the farm on which he made his home at the time of his death. He attended the Ponca City schools and was graduated from the Ponca City High School.
On June 3, 1923 he was married to Edna Plunkett at Winfield, Kan. Evans was employed for 17 years at the Community Gasoline Station and later worked for Continental Oil Company. He moved back to the home place on Lake Road in 1945 and engaged in farming. Evans was a member of the First Christian Church.
Surviving are his wife of the home, one daughter, Mrs. Robert Gregg, 1303 South Seventh; a brother, J.W. Evans, 429 South Osage; three nieces, Mrs. Ralph Matlock of Stillwater; Mrs. C.B. Smith Jr. 716 North Osage and Mrs. Horace Pigg of Joplin, Mo.; two nephews, J.D. Evans of Larned, Kan.; and J.C. Hampton 825 Sugar Maple.
