Bernard Mark Drowatzky passed away on January 10, 2017 in Kaw City, Oklahoma. He was 83 years old.

Bernie was born in Wichita, Kansas to his parents, Karl Mark and Juanita (Jones) Drowatzky. The family moved to Blackwell, Oklahoma where Bernie graduated from Blackwell High School. On May 27, 1961 he married Dora Ann Drowatzky in Blackwell, Oklahoma. Together they had five children. Bernie was enlisted in the United States Air Force and earned the National Defense Service Medal during this time. Bernie made his career by working in law enforcement. He retired from the Wichita Police Department as a Captain in September 1986 after 20 years of service. There, he played a crucial role investigating several high-profile cases. Later, he became the Under Sheriff of Kay County and continued on to become the Chief of Police in Kaw City.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Dora Ann, his parents, and one son, Mark Wayne Drowatzky.

Bernie is survived by his son, Kevin Drowatzky, daughter, Debbie McMurry, son, Bill McMonigle, daughter, Debra Trueblood, 13 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren.

A funeral ceremony for Bernie will be held at Trout Funeral Home & Crematory in Ponca City, Oklahoma on Tuesday, January 17, 2016 at 2:00 p.m.

Dora Ann Drowatzky, Kaw City resident, died Tuesday, March 14, 2006 at the Hillcrest Nursing Home in Blackwell. She was 70. The funeral service will be held graveside at 10 AM on Friday, March 17, 2006 at the Odd Fellows Cemetery with the Rev. Tom Short, Pastor, Oak Grove Baptist Church of Kaw City, officiating. The family will greet friends at Trout Funeral Home on Thursday from 4-6 p.m.

Dora Ann was born on July 26, 1935 in Ponca City to John W. and Bessie (Backus) Osborne. She graduated Ponca City High School in 1954. On May 27, 1961, Dora married Bernie Drowatzky in Blackwell. They made their home in Wichita, Kan. for 20 years until 1986, when they retired and moved to Kaw City. Dora was a member of the Oak Grove Baptist Church in Kaw City. She loved being outdoors, fishing and spending time with her family.

She is survived by: her husband Bernie of Kaw City, two daughters Debra K. Trueblood and her husband Rocky of Burbank, OK and Debbie Murray, two sons Bill McMonigle and his wife Tammy and Kevin Drowatzky and his wife Keri all of Wichita, KS, nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers Jack Osborne and Bobby Osborne and one son Mark Wayne.
