Patricia K. Drake, age 90, a longtime resident of Ponca City passed away Tuesday, January 3, 2017 in Oklahoma City, OK. A graveside funeral ceremony will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, January 9, 2017 at Odd Fellows Cemetery with Pastor Rick Hughes of the Victory Worship Center officiating. She will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband Lee.
Patricia was born on August 6, 1926 in Picher, OK to George Leonard Kyme and Edith Weber Kyme. After her father passed away when she was 7 while living in Claremore, OK, the family moved to Stillwater, OK. While in high school, she was a homecoming queen, and then attended Oklahoma A & M, graduated with a Sociology degree. and was a member of the Pi Beta Phi Sorority. While attending college, she met the love of her life, Lee Drake. After marrying in 1949, they made their home in Ponca City. Early in her time here, Patricia taught at the Ponca City Military Academy and Newkirk Elementary School. Lee and Patricia were real estate agents and builders, who developed the Meadows, Lakewood North and South, and Stoneridge neighborhoods. After Lee's passing, she also developed the Deer Place addition. Patricia was very involved in her community with such organizations as the Salvation Army and the Camp Fire Girls. She was also an active member of PEO Chapter EL.
Survivors include her beloved children and grandchildren: son Bryan Drake of Ponca City, and his son Bryan Lee Drake II; daughter Deborah Schluter and her husband Marc of Bartlesville, and their children, Rebecca Schluter of Bartlesville, and Daniel Schluter of Oklahoma City.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, half-brother George Howard Kyme, brother William (Bill) L. Kyme, and her sister May Winston.
A special thanks to Flora Drake who helped Patricia to continue living at her home and then later, Pamela Chadwell of Deaconess Hospital and Centennial Hospice both in Oklahoma City. The family cannot thank you enough.
Pallbearers will be Bryan Drake, Bryan Lee Drake II, Dee Coker, and John Utech.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Ponca City Humane Society, Ponca City Christian Academy, Ducks Unlimited, or any charity of your choice.
