Clelia Naomi (McDowell) Crook, long time resident of Ponca City, passed away on Tuesday, January 1, 2019 at the age on 97.
Naomi Crook was born on May 24, 1921 in Cleo Springs, Oklahoma to Ira and Mary McDowell. She graduated from Cleo Springs High School in 1940. On June 2, 1940 she married Virgil R. Crook, a marriage that lasted 49 years until his death. Naomi attended Central Baptist Church in Ponca City. She enjoyed crossword puzzles and spending time with her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by daughter, Linda Woodall and husband George, son-in-law, Mike Fugate, granddaughter, Tina Fugate, grandson-in-law, David Duncan, great-granddaughter, Chelsea Fugate and her beloved husband, Virgil R. Crook.
She is survived by daughter, Mary Ann Crook, daughter, Marilyn Fugate, daughter, Carolyn Guthrie and husband Terry, and son, Virgil R. Crook Jr. and companion Lora all of Ponca City. She is also survived by 7 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and 17 great-great grandchildren.
A funeral ceremony for Naomi will be held on Friday, January 4, 2019 at 2:00 pm at the Trout Funeral Home Chapel. Following the ceremony, she will be laid to rest at Odd Fellows Cemetery. Family will be available to greet friends on Thursday, January 3, 2018 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. at Trout Funeral Home.
Casketbearers will be: Steven Fugate, Paul Guthrie, Tyler Evans, Michael Pavitt, Daniel Duncan, and Gary Doyal.
Arrangements are under the direction of Trout Funeral Home & Crematory.
