August 1, 1935 - May 8, 2024

Helen L. Cook passed away at her home on May 8, 2024, she was 88 years of age. Born August 1, 1935, she was the third of eleven children born to Azem and Florence Gee Lawson.

Helen grew up in the Osage of Ponca City and she met the love of her life Emery F. Cook, and they were married September 14, 1951, and they celebrated Sixty- Nine years of marriage until his passing August of 2018. Helen worked at Benny and Smith Crayola factory for more than 20 years. She lived and worked in Winfield, KS, until she and Emery retired together and traveled the country in their RV. She has been to every state including Hawaii. Helen loved to travel and loved riding her motorcycle, she even took a trip to Canada. She collected porcelain dolls. She has an array of beautiful dolls throughout her home. She was incredibly talented and made quilts and she made porcelain dolls, Stain glass clocks, and stain glass window pieces. She worked for a time at American Legion Children's Home, here in Ponca City. She attended Church at House of Prayer in Blackwell, Oklahoma.

She is survived by two brothers, Steve and Kenneth Lawson, her son Edward Cook, and daughter, Tomara L. Hoch: all of Ponca City, Oklahoma. She has five grandchildren, Venus L. Gooch, Cheryl L. Cook, Trinity L. Sherman, Robert Hoch, and Avery Hoch, 7 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. She will be missed; GOD has another angel.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Florence Lawson, father, Azem Lawson and beloved Husband of 69 years Emery F. Cook, her siblings: Mary Kirchenbauer, Donald Lawson, Linda Driskel, Doris Elkins, Florence Carson, Harold (Doug) Lawson, Blanche Bookout, and Azem ( A.G. ) Lawson.

A graveside service for Helen will take place on Saturday, June 1st, 2024, 2 p.m., at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Ponca City, Oklahoma. Following the service, a gathering of friends and family will be held at the Ponca City Duck Pond at Ponca Lake in Shelters 1 & 2.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Karman Hospice.
