Deborah Lynn (Bookout) COLWELL

Ponca City I O O F Cemetery

Deborah Lynn (Bookout) Colwell
October 29, 1959 - March 9, 2022

Funeral services for Deborah Lynn Colwell, 62, Ponca City resident, will be held at 9:30 am Saturday, March 12, 2022 in the New Hope Christian Fellowship (Ponca City) with Pastor Jack Adams officiating. Committal prayers and interment will follow in I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Ponca City, under the kind guidance of the Amy Stittsworth Funeral Service.

Deborah Lynn (Bookout) Colwell was born on October 29, 1959 in Ponca City, Ok to Vernus and Blanche (Lawson) Bookout, and peacefully passed away in her home surrounded by family and loved ones on March 9, 2022.

Debbie was born and raised in Ponca City and graduated from Ponca City Sr. High with the class of 1977. Debbie worked for many years as a housekeeper at St. Joseph Medical Center before retiring to raise her children and assist her husband with the family business.

During the summer of 1987 Debbie met Rod Colwell through mutual friends. They were married on February 12, 1988 at Eastern Heights Church in Ponca City. In 1989 they had their first child, Ashley Dawn Colwell and in 1994 completed their family with the birth of their second child, Chelsey Rae Colwell.

Debbie enjoyed many things throughout her life such as vacations to beautiful places such as Colorado, New Mexico and the Grand Canyon. She like to collect rocks and metal art to add to her rock garden. Debbie and Rod were members of Three Sands Motorcycle Riders and she loved their rides together. Debbie also served on the Pastoral Advisory Committee for New Hope Christian Fellowship and dedicated her life to serving the Lord.

Though Debbie had many hobbies and activities that she took pleasure in, nothing was greater to her than the joy of her grandchildren. She loved spending time with them whether it was painting rocks with them, cuddling up and watching TV, or Pokemon hunting; it didn't matter, if it made them happy then she was happy.

Anyone who knew Debbie describes her as being very kind and loving with a heart of gold and always willing to help anyone in need. She will be greatly missed by all.

Debbie was proceeded in death by her parents, Vernus and Blanche Bookout, her brother Allen Bookout, and her sister Betty Hearne. Debbie is survived by her husband of 34 years, Rod Colwell; her daughter, Ashley Colwell and fiancee Sam Hague; her daughter, Chelsey Colwell and partner Justin Morris; her 4 grandchildren, Nicole, Hali, Alex, and Bryce; her brother Buddy Bookout and wife Serena; her brother Gary Bookout and wife Bonita and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
