Mary Eudora (Cantwell) Bridgman
1922 - 2007



Former Ponca City resident Mary Eudora Cantwell Bridgman passed away Friday afternoon, March 16 in San Angelo, Texas. She was 84.
Mary was born Nov. 14, 1922 in Rush Springs, Okla., the daughter of the Rev. Luther Albert Cantwell and Ethel Euelah (Autrey) Cantwell. The family moved to Ponca City in 1937. She was a graduate of Ponca City High School prior to attending Bethany Nazarene College.
On Dec. 25, 1940 she married Ivan Joe Bridgman in Ponca City. They recently celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary. The couple had moved to San Angelo in 2002.
Mary had been employed several years ago as a receptionist at Grace Memorial Chapel. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of San Angelo, Texas. Her enjoyments included cooking, sewing and reading.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Mary Jo Cobb; one brother, Ray Cantwell and one infant sister, Madelyn Joy.
Survivors include her husband, Ivan, of the home; two children, Rod Bridgman of San Angelo, Texas and Jean Bray and husband, Paul, of Shawnee; three sisters, Sybil Small and husband, Warren, of Indianapolis, Ind.; Bobbie Steele and husband, Robert, of Fort Meyers, Fla.; and June Holiday and husband, Jerry, of Oklahoma City; one sister-in-law, Dorothy Cantwell of Ponca City; seven grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; one uncle, Freddie Autrey and wife, Mozell.
Service will be at 10 a.m. today at Grace Memorial Chapel with the Rev. John Mixon, pastor of the New Hope Baptist Church in Shawnee, officiating. Burial will follow in the Ponca City IOOF Cemetery under the direction of Grace Memorial Chapel.
Casket bearers will be grandsons, Kyle Puga, Alex Puga, Johnathan Heston, Thomas Heston, John Heston, Jeremiah Flowers, Zachary Truitt and Casey Bray. Honorary casket bearers will be Benjamin Cobb, William Cobb, Caleb Cobb, Johnathan Truitt, Stephen Heston and David Heston.
Memorial contributions may be made in Mrs. Bridgman's memory to Hospice.
