October 2, 1957 - September 14, 2024


Jodeana Louise Barnett, affectionately known as "Jody," passed away peacefully on September 14, 2024, in her hometown of Ponca City, Oklahoma. Born to Mary Etta (Benson) Ward in Ponca City on October 2, 1957, Jody was a beloved daughter, wife, mother, and grandmother.

Jody graduated from PoHi in 1975 and spent her professional life working as a bookkeeper for various grocery stores. Her commitment to her work was matched only by her dedication to her family and community.

In 1990, Jody met the love of her life, Jim "Barney" Barnett, through her cousin at a local dance hall. They were married on November 17, 1990, in a heartfelt ceremony at Jim's parents' home. Together, they shared a life full of love and cherished moments.

Jody is survived by her husband, Barney; her mother, Mary Ward; her sister Sharon Chamberlin and her husband John; her daughter Krista Urioste; her son James Barnett and his wife Tosha; and her son-in-law Arthur Urioste. She is also survived by nine adored grandchildren.

Jody's warmth, kindness, and unwavering spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of her family and friends, and her memory will be treasured forever.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, September 20, 2024, at 10:00 AM at Ranch Drive Baptist Church, located at the corner of North Ave and Ranch Dr, Ponca City, OK 74601. The service will be officiated by Pastor Jerry Hook. Burial will follow at Odd Fellows Cemetery, 1206 S. Waverly, Ponca City, OK 74601. Casket bears are Vincent Urioste, Leland Barnett, James A Barnett, Joesph Johnson, Happy Muchmore, and John M. Chamberlin.
