Fred Archer, 80, of Ponca City, Oklahoma passed away on Thursday January 2nd, 2020 at his home after a 6 month battle with cancer.
A memorial service will be held at Trout Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday January 8th at 2pm for friends and family. A graveside service will follow at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Ponca City, Oklahoma. Arrangements are under the direction of Trout Funeral Home & Crematory.
Fred was born on September 25th, 1939 in Coal County, Oklahoma to Claude and Lilian Archer. He graduated from Ponca City High School in 1958. After high school, Fred spent 5 years in the Coast Guard. He then attended college at Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford, Oklahoma and graduated in 1967.
On January 30th, 1964 he married Judy Cookson in Ponca City, Oklahoma. They have been married for 55 wonderful years.
Fred worked for Conoco as an industrial electrician for 28 years until he retired in 2004. He enjoyed reading history books, playing chess, watching football, and spending time with his family.
Fred is survived by his wife Judy Archer of Ponca City, Oklahoma; brother Russel Archer and wife Lynn of The Woodlands, Texas; son Craig Archer of Ponca City, Oklahoma; son Lex Archer and wife Kesinee of St. Petersburg, Florida; son Paul Archer and husband George Gennadios of Andros, Greece; daughter Patti Szafranski and husband Carl of Tulsa, Oklahoma; 7 grandchildren- Kirsten Archer; Camille, Aleyna, and Krystal Archer; Cooper, Piper, and Parker Szafranski; and 2 great grandsons- Sebastian and Gavin Archer. He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers, Robert and Oscar Archer.
