Eric Hunter Ailey of Ponca City passed away Saturday, March3, 2018 in Wichita, Kansas. He was 25 years of age. Eric was born September 21, 1992 in Ponca City, OK to Dennis Ailey and Kelly Austin Ailey. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Monday, March 12, 2018 in the Grace Memorial Chapel with Pastor Don Stanton of Faith Tabernacle officiating. Interment will follow in the Odd Fellows Cemetery under the care of Grace Memorial Chapel of Ponca City.
Eric grew up in Ponca City attending the Ponca City school system and he graduated from Po High in 2011. While in school he was very active in Athletics playing Football and baseball, lettering in both sports. He also enjoyed going to the Gym and working out, playing his guitar which he self-taught to play, playing Frisbee golf and video games. After graduating from high school Eric played baseball for Cowley County College until an injury ended his baseball career. He could play all positions on the field and at the time of his injury he was catcher. He transferred to NOC Enid and later to Pikes Peak Community College trying to complete his degree.
Survivors include: Parents; Kelly Ailey and Dennis Ailey and wife Ruth both of Ponca City, OK 1 sister; Elizabeth Ailey of Haskell, OK 1 brother; Steven Ailey of Ponca City, OK and a ½ brother Eric Greenfield of Ponca City, OK He is also survived by his grandparents; Floyd and Sandra Ailey of Nardin, OK and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Eric was preceded in death by his Grandparents; Charles and Mamie Austin and 1 sister; Kristin Ailey – Nydegger.
