Carl W. Warren, of 300 South Pine, died Friday afternoon, Oct. 21, 1988, at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center. He was 79.
Born April 16, 1909 in Ponca City, he was the son of George and Hattie Combs Warren. He attended Ponca City Schools, graduating in 1930.
He then went into business, and operated and owned the successful business, Warren's Sales and Service, for over 52 years, dealing in motorcycles, bicycles, lawnmowers and chainsaws.
During World War II he served in the U.S. Navy. Following his discharge in October 1945 he returned to Ponca City.
Mr. Warren was an avid music lover, and sang with the Kiwanis Glee Club for 15 years. He also joined and became a charter member of the S.P.E.B.S.Q.S.A., a barber shop chorus.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, and a member of the church choir for over 50 years.
Survivors include his wife, Betty, of the home; one son, Bill M. Warren, of Tulsa; one daughter, Gloria S. Harris of Tulsa; one step-son, Michael A. Rudolph of Claremore; four grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and one sister.
A memorial fund has been established to The Living Memorial Fund of the First United Methodist Church, and contributions may be made through the church office.
Funeral service will be Tuesday morning at 10 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Robert W. VanHouse, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow at the Newkirk Cemetery.
Casketbearers will be Max Stokesberry, Allen Welch, Harold Atteberry, Raymond Kizer, Leo Dixon and Ted Reese.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Trout Funeral Home.
