Last rites for Nathaniel Shupe, 76, Newkirk, who died late Sunday at Fort Supply, will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the First Methodist Church at Newkirk.
Rev. A. M. Stocking of Arkansas City will officiate assisted by Rev. Jack Jordan of Newkirk. Burial will be in Newkirk Cemetery under direction of Boatright-Weber Funeeral Home.
Mr. Shupe was born Jan. 5, 1881 in Raleigh, N. C. He moved to Arkansas City in 1891 and came into Cherokee Strip Territory with his family in 1893.
He was married Nov. 28, 1907 in Ponca City and had lived in Kay county communities where he engaged in farming until moving to Newkirk in 1944.
He was a member of the Newkirk Methodist Church.
His death resulted from effects of a broken hip suffered in a fall two weeks ago.
Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Anna Shupe; five sons, Arthur V. of Arlington, Tex., Melvin, Newkirk, Albert W. of Blackwell, Ralph O. of Newkirk, and Robert D., Jefferson City, Mo.; three daughters, Mrs. Paul M. Gouden, Kaw City, Mrs. Opal A. McGraw, Dallas, Tex., and Mrs. Lucille Law, Newkirk; and a brother, Arthur E. Shupe, Newkirk.
