Stephen T. Krenn, long-time resident of Newkirk, passed away in Ponca City on October 7, 2018 at the age of 74 with his family by his side.

Steve was born on May 15, 1944 in West Union, West Virginia to Henry and Edna (Woofter) Krenn. In 1946, Henry moved his wife and son from West Virginia to Kildare, OK to farm alongside other family members. Steve attended grade school in Kildare and in 1962 he graduated from Ponca City High School. Later that year he joined the Army Reserves and served until 1968 when he was honorably discharged.

Steve married Virginia Carson in 1969 and they had a son, Tony. They later divorced. In 1977, Steve married Peggy Stieber. They had a son, Justin, in 1978 and a year later they had a daughter, Kalen. The family, along with Peggy’s daughter, Tracey, lived on the farm in Kildare. They divorced in 1989.

Steve had an impeccable work ethic and enjoyed working hard at any job put before him. In addition to working the family farm, some other occupations he held included traveling with a friend running a funnel cake wagon for a carnival, working at a feed lot in Texas, milking cows on a dairy farm, sanitation worker for Kaw Lake, and top hand at the local livestock auctions. Throughout his life he took pride in buying, selling, and trading cattle for others, as well as himself. He loved investing time and effort into raising livestock.

Steve had a style all his own, from the vehicles he drove, the corky comments he would often say, to the shorty shorts he wore. His nickname “Skippy” even came from those silly white, slip-on shoes that became a trademark of his outfits. He could also run like the wind. Skippy had numerous friends from all over and will be greatly missed by them all.

Steve was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his sons, Tony Krenn of Stillwater and Justin Krenn and wife Stephanie of Ponca City, daughter, Kalen and husband Richard Morgan of Tonkawa, step-daughter, Tracey and husband Scott Biddle of Ponca City, nine grandkids, Logan and Brooklyn Krenn, Braden Barney, Cody, Jake, Ryan, and Tate Morgan, and Nathan and Hannah Larson.

A memorial ceremony for Steve will be held on Friday, October 19, 2018 at 10:00 am at the Second Baptist Church in Ponca City. Services are under the direction of Trout Funeral Home & Crematory.
