Graveside services for Mrs. Rosa L. Alford, 82, 614 N. 19th, who died Wednesday evening in a local hospital after an illness of several months, will be at 3 PM today in the Newkirk Cemetery.

The Rev. Arnold Davis will officiate and burial will be under the direction of the Brown Funeral Home of Enid. The body will lie in state here until noon.

Mrs. Alford was born in Granola, Kansas, in 1891, and married Earl Dean Alford in Mahan in 1909. They lived in Oilton for 21 years before moving to Newkirk. She worked in the Memorial Hospital at Arkansas City, Kansas, and in 1960 moved to Ponca City.

Mrs. Alford had moved to Enid several months ago. She was a member of the Royal Neighbors, the Modern Woodmen of America, various church groups and flower clubs.

Mrs. Alford was also a member of the Christian Church at Newkirk.

She was preceded in death by her husband and a son.

Survivors include three sons, Delbert Alford of Lancaster, California, Vernon Alford of Wichita, Kansas, and Billie D. Alford of Enid; four daughters, Mrs. Robert (Racheal) Childers, Ponca City, Mrs. Welsey (Leona B.) Austin of Ponca City, Mrs. Marvin (Lena Lee) Whisman of Bartlesville and Mrs. Marion (Helen) Nowell of Wichita, Kansas; a brother, Albert Leonard of Sedan, Kansas; 15 grandchildren and 20 great – grandchildren.
