Esther Louise Griffin
December 1, 1930 - October 2, 2023

Esther Louise Griffin, resident of Ponca City, went home to be with the Lord Monday, October 2, 2023, at Ponca City Nursing Home and Rehab. She was 92.

A graveside service will be held at the Newkirk Cemetery, located north of Newkirk, OK, at 10:00 AM, Friday, October 6, 2023, followed by a Celebration of Life at Oak Grove Baptist Church, 641 Grandview Dr, Kaw City, OK 74641, with Pastor Gary Wilburn officiating. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Trout Funeral Home and Crematory, 505 W. Grand Ave, Ponca City, OK 74601.

Esther was born on December 1, 1930, to the late William H. and Ruby I. McDaniel Goodson in Newkirk, OK. She was raised in Newkirk. She married Herbert P. Griffin in Arkansas City, KS on December 1, 1946. They lived in Ponca City for most of their married life, enjoying 56 years of married bliss before Herbert passed away in 2003.

Esther retired from Tan-Co Wreath Company in 1981. The couple enjoyed traveling and visiting with friends and relatives and spending the winters in Mission, TX for twenty years after retirement. Esther always enjoyed helping with the Ponca City FFA Booster Club and the Marland Round-Up Club, especially the concession stand. She was a member of Second Baptist Church. For many years, she was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church at Kaw City, where she served on the finance Committee and the Flower Committee, making lots of beautiful flower arrangements for the church.

Esther is survived by her two children, daughter Carolyn Sue ("Susie") Pettit and husband Ernie, and son Larry Eugene Griffin and his wife Diane. She is also survived by Larry's adopted family, Ron and Jen Hill and children Haylie and Hudson; two grandchildren Marty Pettit and wife Kelly, and Justin Williams; one great-granddaughter Haley Williams; two great-great-grandchildren Aspyn Faye Williams and Weston Lane Williams; four sisters; one brother; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband Herbert; infant daughter Wanda Lou Griffin; son Steven Ron Griffin; granddaughter Laci Dawn Griffin Hill; grandson Larry Ron Griffin; daughter-in-law Linda Griffin; her parents William and Ruby Goodson; and brother and sister-in-law Jerry and Dee Ann Goodson, and brother-in-law Carl Nance.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Oak Grove Baptist Church/Shoe Box Ministry, PO Box 96, Kaw City, OK 74641, or Good Plans Ministries, 2215 Garden, Ponca City, OK 74601.
