Clifton Ray Stevenson, longtime resident of Ponca City, passed Tuesday, May 21, 2013 at the Ponca City Medical Center. He was 76 years of age. 

Ray was born December 7, 1936 in Oklahoma City, the son of Melvin Howard Stevenson and Charlotte (Hasty) Stevenson. Ray graduated from Loveland, Oklahoma High School in 1955. He then attended and graduated from Southeastern State University at Durant with at teaching degree. He had taught math in schools at Moore, Oklahoma, Carlsbad, New Mexico and Marland, Oklahoma. He was married in earlier years to Marilyn Reffner Chedester and later married Winona Lea Stone. 

He was a member of Northeast Baptist Church and the After 5 Lions Club of Ponca City. Ray was noted for all his volunteer work with the Wheatheart Nutrition Program, Lions Club and many other efforts in our community. His enjoyments included visiting with others, seemingly never to have met a stranger. 

He is survived by his three children, Charles Wayne Stevenson and wife Janice, of Edmond, Oklahoma, Michael Ray Stevenson and wife Robin, of Jones, Oklahoma, and Carolyn Michele West and husband Skip, of Edmond; 3 grandchildren, Dani Stevenson, Lauren May and Kristen Stevenson; one great grandchild, Mia Stevenson; one half-brother, Terry Stevenson, numerous other extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Winona in 1993. 

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, May 24, 2013 at Northeast Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Larry Nigh presiding. Interment will follow in the Longwood Cemetery under the direction of Grace Memorial Chapel.
