Shirley Maxine Anderson Countryman, longtime resident of Ponca City, passed away Tuesday, September 11, 2012 at the Golden Age Nursing Home in Guthrie, Oklahoma. She was 85 years of age.

Shirley was born August 28, 1927 in the Bressie Community, the daughter of Roy Thomas Anderson and Stella May Easley Anderson. She attended the Tearny Grade School and graduated from Marland High School. She was married to Alva Murl Countryman on September 20, 1946 in Winfield, Kansas. Shirley was a longtime member of the Second Baptist Church of Ponca City. Her enjoyments were her grandchildren, yard work that included attending to her flowers.

She is survived by her two daughters, Janis Johnston and husband Rex, of Guthrie, and Marcia Countryman Whitlock of Lawton six grandchildren, Aimee Waller, Carrie Mefferd, Heather McDaris, Brianna Villarma, Anna Kendall and Miriam Marlin ten great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents her husband one son, Steve Countryman her siblings, Carl Anderson, Ruby Baker, Glen Anderson, James Anderson, Helen Morris and Lawrence Anderson.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, September 15, 2012 at the Longwood Cemetery under the direction of Grace Memorial Chapel.
