Johnnie was born on March 31, 1939 to John and Aline Burnett in Pawnee OK. He was a life-long resident of Ponca City and graduated from Po-Hi in 1959. He worked for Skyline Manufactured Homes in Ark City for 34 years. He was an avid collector of Bob Wills memorabilia and spent countless hours building and researching WWII model airplanes. He enjoyed fishing, classic cars and touring the local countryside; he was a walking encyclopedia on local history. In addition to his numerous interests, his love of animals was unending. If there was a stray within miles, he would provide it a home. He enjoyed life to its fullest and never met a stranger. He definitely had a heart of gold and will be missed by many.
Johnnie is survived by his wife, Margaret Burnett of Ponca City, OK, step-daughters; Mary McClaskey and husband Gary of Kemp TX, Janet Martin and husband John of Claremore, OK, Cheryl Eby and husband Bob of Bradenton, Florida, 6 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and 1 great, great-grandchild.
He is preceded in death by his father, John Burnett and mother, Aline Burnett.
Memorial contributions may be made to Ponca City Humane Society, 900 W. Prospect, Ponca City, OK 74601.
