Jack L. Burgell Rites Tuesday
Jack L. Burgell 1604 North Osage, died Saturday evening in Oklahoma City. He was 53.
Born Oct. 4, 1926, in Ponca City, he was the son of Charles and Phoebe Burgell, one of nine children. He received his education in Ponca City schools, and entered the service in 1945, receiving his discharge the following year.
Burgell returned to Ponca City and married Mary (Helen) Ashworth on May 29, 1948, in Guthrie. He had worked for Goldenstern and Stolpher for 17 1/2 years , for Ponca Tank Co. for five years, and at the time of his death was employed by Mertz Inc. as a welder and crane operator. He went to work for that firm in 1968.
Surviving are his wife of the home, two sons, Tom Burgell of the home, and Howard Burgell, 1505 West Chestnut, a daughter, Jackie Hankla of Blackwell; four brothers, Glen and Charles Burgell, both of Ponca City. Cliff Burgell, Neodesha, Kan., and Bill Burgell, Johnstown, Colo.; a sister, Mrs. Florence Thornton, Sterling, Colo.; a nephew and five granddaughters.
Preceding him in death were his parents, one sister, and three brothers.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Bible Baptist Church with the Rev. N. W. Lowrie officiating. Burial will be in Longwood Cemetery under direction of Grace Memorial chapel.
The family will be at 1505 West Chestnut on the day of the funeral service.
