Longwood Cemetery


Norma Louise Bellmard, resident of Ponca City, passed Sunday, February 24, 2013 at the Ponca City Medical Center. She was 85 years of age. 

Norma was born October 25, 1927 near Ponca City, the daughter of Henry Hank Simmons and Nora (Pringle) Simmons. She was married to Ray Jonus Nelson on April 3, 1947 in Ponca City. In earlier years Norma operated a janitorial service in Tulsa, moving to Ponca City in the late 70’s. She had her own ceramic doll business since 1979. Her enjoyments were her ceramic work, living on the farm, animals, especially Shetland ponies. 

She is survived by her five children, Sara Standeford, Ponca City, Larry Dean Nelson, Oklahoma City, Johnny Ray Nelson, Enid, Oklahoma, Jimmy Lester Nelson of Maryland and Ronnie Howard Nelson of Iowa; 10 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, James Simmons. 

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, March 1, 2013 at Grace Memorial Chapel with Don Huddleston of Hartford Avenue Church of Christ presiding. Interment will be Longwood Cemetery, Ponca City.
