February 11, 1935 - May 26, 2023

Elton Wayne Nimerick, 88, resident of Ponca City, OK, passed away on May 26, 2023. A Funeral Ceremony will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, June 9, 2023, at Sunset Baptist Church. Burial will immediately follow at Longwood Cemetery. Those unable to attend the Funeral Ceremony, may attend virtually on the Trout Funeral Home website, www.troutfuneralhome.com and click on the live-stream or toolbar icon on the top right corner after 1:45 PM. Arrangements are under the direction of Trout Funeral Home & Crematory, 505 W. Grand Ave., Ponca City, OK, 74601.

Elton was born on February 11, 1935. He was the son of J. L. (Bill) Nimerick and Elma Mae Sneed Nimerick in Pawnee, OK, on the family farm that was homesteaded by his Grandfather in 1893 in the land run. He married Bonnie Mae Going, May 10, 1957. Together he and Bonnie raised 2 wonderful children, Melinda and Bret in Ponca City.

Elton worked most of his adult life in the Kay County area for several companies. He was a member of Sunset Baptist Church in Ponca City. He taught 8th grade boys Sunday School for many years and helped in the 2nd grade Sunday School when his twin grandson's were in that class.

Elton was preceded in death by: his parents; his wife, Bonnie; his son Bret; his grandson, Kyle; his sister and brother-in-law, Shirley and Tate Hager, and his brother and sister-in-law, Ken and Patsy Nimerick. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Melinda and Robert Dexter, Guthrie, OK; grandson and fiance, Brad Dexter and Jenny Cowan, Yukon, OK; grandson and wife, Matt and Amanda Dexter; great-granddaughters, Janna and Adalynn Dexter, Prosper, TX; brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Donna Nimerick, and many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of North Central Oklahoma, 445 Fairview Ave, Ponca City, OK, 74601.
