Donald "Don" Hendrickson
July 5, 1937 - October 7, 2024
Donald Kay Hendrickson (Don), passed away peacefully at 87 in his home in Ponca City on October 7, 2024.
Don was born in Ponca City Hospital to the late Clifford and Florence Hendrickson on July 5, 1937. He attended Maple Grove, Uncas School, and Graduated Ponca City High School Class of 1955. Don joined the National Guard Unit his Senior Year in Blackwell, Ok. He went on to Oklahoma State University where he graduated with his Civil Engineering degree in 1959. As he attended college he met the love of his life, Barbara Kay Jones, they were married on October 4, 1958, and made their first home in Stillwater, OK. They were blessed with two beautiful children, Amy Turner and Donald Kay Hendrickson Jr. Don was the Project Manager for many companies all over the world in the oilfield industry. Don grew up farming on his family farm in Kildare, Oklahoma. Don enjoyed hunting, fishing, baseball, playing marbles, golfing, playing cards, gardening, and puzzles became a major hobby for him, He truly loved watching his OSU Cowboys play football! Don enjoyed spending time with his family and spoiling his grandchildren. He especially enjoyed being called "Grandpa".
Those left behind to cherish his memory are his daughter Amy Turner of Wilburton, OK. Three grandchildren, Joel Turner of Broken Arrow, OK Alyssa Turner of Wilburton, OK Kurt Turner and wife Miranda of Coweta, OK, three Great grandchildren; Blaze Turner, Miles Turner and Lola Turner all of Coweta, OK, also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Barbara Hendrickson, One Son, Donald (Andy) Hendrickson, Daughter in law, Wendy Turner, One brother, Hal Hendrickson and one sister, Shirley Ware.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held 1:30 p.m. Friday, October 18,2024 at Grace Memorial Chapel of Ponca City, OK with Pastor Dana Hugle officiating. Interment will follow in the Longwood Cemetery in Ponca City, OK.
The family encourages you to wear Oklahoma State University attire. Let's Cheer on OSU one more time with Don!
