Catherine E. Schauer of Blackwell, Oklahoma passed away the morning of February 11, 2021 at her home at the age of 83 years.
Catherine Elizabeth Horinek was born on October 5, 1937 in Ponca City, Oklahoma the daughter of George Horinek and Agnes Voegele.
She was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Blackwell for many years. She enjoyed volunteering at the Blackwell Hospital, after retiring from Southwest Cupid.
She married Richard Dale “Abe” Schauer on May 17, 1958 in Newkirk, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death on October 17, 2013.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; a son, Gary D. Schauer; and a grandson, Justin Johns.
Catherine is survived by a daughter, Leasa Wright and husband, Tom; grandchildren, Damian Johns (Melanie), Jennifer Smith, Nicholas Hancock (Ashley), Shiela Wright, Rebecca, Thomas John Wright (Lindsay); great-grandchildren, James, Justin, Adyson, Zieke, Zowie, Serenity, Landon Alexander, Linda, Kyley, Greg “Boo” Wright, Deron Wright (Diana), and Juniper; and a great-great grandson, Johannes.
The family will receive friends at Roberts and Son Funeral Home from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Monday evening, March 1. A Rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, March 2 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Grandview Cemetery in Kaw City, Oklahoma. Masks are required, and social distancing guidelines will be followed.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph’s Altar Society sent in c/o Roberts and Son Funeral Home, 120 W. Padon, Blackwell, Oklahoma 74631.
