Boyd William Morgan, resident of Enid, Oklahoma
passed away on Thursday, November 27, 2008 at St. Anthony’s Hospital in
Oklahoma City. He was 78.
Boyd was born the son of Scott Morgan and Maudie (House) Morgan on
September 15, 1930 in Webb City, Oklahoma. He grew up in the Shidler,
Oklahoma area and graduated from Shidler High School. At the age of 17,
he enlisted in the United States Air Force. After being honorably
discharged from military service, he married Shirley Nickles on November
of 1955 and they had two children. The couple made their home in Shidler,
Oklahoma until they moved to Ponca City, Oklahoma in 1986. He worked for
40 years at Phillips Petroleum Company and retired in 1988. In 2004 Boyd
moved to Enid, Oklahoma.
Boyd loved to hunt and fish. He also liked listening to big band music
and dancing, but most of all, he loved spending time with his family,
especially his grandchildren.
He is survived by his loving companion, Bonnie Bradley; children, Robert
Morgan and wife, Angela of Ponca City, Oklahoma and Twila Steele of Kaw
City, Oklahoma; brothers, Douglas Morgan of Wilmington, North Carolina
and Forrest Morgan of New Mexico; grandchildren, Jason Morgan, Mathew
Morgan and Elizabeth Vega; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Gilbert Morgan; and
grandson, Scott Buchman.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 2, 2008
at Grandview Cemetery under the direction of Grace Memorial Chapel.
