Forrest W. Boone, 88, of Ponca City, passed away Wednesday, September 11, 2013 at the VA Medical Center in OKC. He was born October 10, 1924, in Kaw City, OK to Walter and Imogene (Davis) Boone of Kaw City, Oklahoma.
Forrest was a World War II veteran survivor of the following campaigns: D-day Omaha Beach, Northern France, Central Germany, Rhineland, and Ardennes. He was among the 118 enlisted men to be awarded the Bronze Service Arrowhead for participation in the assault landings of the Normandy invasion on June 6, 1944.
After serving his country, Forrest returned to the states and was in auto repair and later in management and sales of the Chevrolet dealership in Kaw City and then Shidler.
In 1946, he married Betty Smith in Sedan, Kansas. They settled in Kaw City. She preceded him in death on April 19, 2002. Also preceding him in death were his parents, brother Glen, and sister Violet Scott.
Forrest and Betty relocated to Ponca City in 1968, where he worked at the Volkswagen Dealership. Later he helped develop what is known as Whitlock’s North Country Mobile Home Park.
His greatest hobby was boating and water skiing -- teaching his children and their friends to ski.
Survivors include son Bill Boone and wife Carla of Bartlesville; daughter Sherry Stevens and husband Dave of Ponca City and son Jerry Boone and wife Linda of Great Bend, Kansas -- six grandchildren Kim Satterlee and Ashley Crawford; Brad Stevens and Tara Tennant; and Jerry Jr. and Chad Boone -- eleven great-grandchildren Wyatt, Harry, and Scarlett Satterlee and Alex Crawford; Cameron and Colton Stevens and Dray and Asher Tennant; and Mathew, Jadin, and Devin Boone -- two great-great-granddaughters Angel and Aubree Stevens.
Graveside services will be held Saturday, September 14, 2013, at 10 a.m. in the Grandview Cemetery at Kaw City, Oklahoma, with Pastor Mark Busch of Brookfield Avenue Wesleyan Church, Ponca City, officiating. Casket Bearers will be; Jerry Boone, Jr., Chad Boone, Chris Tennant, Spencer Satterlee, Adam Crawford and Colton Stevens. Honorary Casket Bearers will be; Bob Whitlock, Dale Randall, Brad Stevens, Cameron Stevens, Matthew Boone, Devin Boone, Dray Tennant, Asher Tennant, Wyatt Satterlee and Harry Satterlee.
