Joyce Lavon Williams
January 15, 1934 - September 2, 2022
Joyce Lavon (McHenry) Williams passed away on September 2, 2022, at her home in Ponca City, OK. She was 88.
Joyce was born to Wesley and Lela (Campbell) McHenry in Webb City, OK. She grew up with four brothers in Shidler and graduated from Shidler High School in 1951. On February 11, 1955. she married Leonard Williams and to this union, had two sons, Rex and Gary.
She and Leonard moved around including Upper Heford AB in England from, 1956-1959. From 1959-1989, they moved back and forth from Fort Worth, TX to Tuscon, AZ, back to Fort Worth, to Sembach, Germany, to Fort Hood, TX, to Fort Worth, TX, once more to Fort Hood, TX, and finally ending back to Fort Worth, TX. In between all of that moving, she worked for multiple companies such as A. L. Davis food stores, General Dynamics, Stratflex Co, Montgomery Wards, and A&A International. In 1989, they moved back to Shidler and in 2019, moved to Ponca City.
In retirement, she enjoyed cooking, reading, and attending the First Christian Church in Shidler. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her husband Leonard, son Gary Williams, and brothers Steve McHenry of Shidler, OK, Terry McHenry of Arlington, TX, and Rick McHenry of Tomball, TX, one grandchild, and three great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents Wesley and Lela McHenry, son Rex Williams, and brother Hal McHenry.
