Richard Sheets of Braman, Oklahoma passed away the morning of July 8, 2021 at his home at the age of 97 years. Richard passed away 8 days after his beloved wife, Barbara Sheets. They would have celebrated their 74th wedding anniversary on July 21, 2021.
Richard Ray Sheets was born on June 6, 1924 in Deer Creek, Oklahoma to Elmer Ray and Vera Margaret Isabella (Spencer) Sheets. Richard graduated from Braman High School in 1942.
He was inducted into the army on March 12th 1943. He served with the 497th Port Battalion in the African Campaign. He made two trips over the Burma Road while attached to Merrill's Marauders. He received honorable discharge on January 16th. 1946, receiving Meritorious Service Award; Asiatic Pacific; Victory and Expert Rifleman awards.
He married Barbara Lee Stewart on July 21, 1947. Richard and Barbara were farmers north of Braman, Oklahoma and had a Custom Harvesting business for many years. Richard is survived by his five children ; Larry R. Sheets and wife Ann, Jimmy L. Sheets and wife Deanna, Donald L. Sheets and wife Frances, of Blackwell Oklahoma, Brenda K. Adams, Deborah A. Brown and husband Paul of Ponca City, Oklahoma, and many loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 14, 2021 at Roberts and Son Funeral Home.
Graveside services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 15, 2021 at Braman Cemetery with James W. Roberts officiating. Burial will follow in Braman Cemetery.

Barbara Sheets of Braman, Oklahoma, died Wednesday afternoon, June 30, 2021, at her home at the age of 93 years.
Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, July 2, 2021 at Braman Cemetery with James W. Roberts officiating. Burial will follow in Braman Cemetery.
