The funeral for William “Bill” L. Johnson, 79, of Braman will be 10 a.m. today at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Blackwell. The Revs. Larok Obwana Martin and Joseph Vas will officiate. Burial will be in Braman Cemetery, Braman. Arrangements are by Blackwell Funeral Home, Blackwell.

He was born March 1, 1928, in Enid to Louis T. and Esther Eyestone Johnson and died Friday, Nov. 23, 2007, at his home in Braman.

He grew up on a farm in Kremlin and graduated from Kremlin High School in 1946. He served in the Navy from 1950 to 1952 during the Korean War. He moved to Blackwell in 1952 and worked at the Hazel Atlus Glass plant. He also worked in the oil field.

He married Mary Louise Parsons Feb. 14, 1955, in Winfield, Kan. They lived in Blackwell until 1969, when they moved to rural Braman. She died Dec. 3, 2003.

He continued to farm following retirement and was active in the farming operation. He was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, Amer-ican Legion-Russell Litchfield Post 7 and Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Surviving are one son, Michael Johnson of Braman; three daughters, Teresa Beard of Newkirk and Linda McConnell and Phyllis Johnson, both of Braman; four sisters, Joyce Moore and Janice Ropp, both of Blackwell, Mary Litschke of Enid and Dorothy Walta of Caldwell, Kan.; two brothers, Ted Johnson of Blackwell and Floren Johnson of Kremlin; 11 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two stepgreat-grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, Mary, he was preceded in death by one son and three brothers.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home, 301 W. Blackwell Ave., Blackwell, OK 74631 to Hospice of North Central Oklahoma.
