An Old Settler Dead
William M. Fox was born at Carney, Mo., March 3, 1854; died at Wichita, Kan., Aug. 16, 1916; age 62 years, 5 months, 11 days.
He married Emma Hurst at Arkansas City, Kan., July 4, 1879. To this union was born one daughter. He with his family moved to Oklahoma at the opening in 1893, where he continued to reside until his death.
He left a wife, Emma Fox, a daughter, Laura Fox of Braman; two brothers, Dory Fox of Hunnewell, Kan., and Rile Fox of Blackwell; three sisters, Mrs. T. M. Brown of Chanute, Kan.; Mrs. A. L. Horne of Braman, and Mrs. Cassie Strange of Hunnewell, Kan.
He united with the Baptist Church at Portland, Kan., in 1882, moving his membership to Braman where he remained a member until his death. He was an Odd Fellow of long standing, having united with that order at South Haven, Kan., when a young man, and was one of the charter members of Braman lodge No. 243.
The funeral services were held at the Baptist Church Friday afternoon, Aug. 18, at 2:30, T. H. Corkill, pastor of the Methodist Church, officiating. The I.O.O.F. attended in a body and had charge at the grave. Burial was in the Braman Cemetery.
