Walter L. Alexander, age 81 of Kaw City, Oklahoma, passed away January 5, 2015.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00PM on Friday, January 9, 2015 at Ponca City Freewill Baptist Church, 1900 East Hubbard Road, Ponca City with pastor Adam Phillips officiating. Burial will then follow at the Braman Cemetery in Braman, Oklahoma. Casket bearers will be Jim Akers, Bud Bowker, Gene Webb, and Jim Augenstein. Honorary casket bearers will be Don McCain, Thorton Brewer and the Blackwell and Newkirk Livestock Auction Friends. Arrangements are under the direction of Trout Funeral Home & Crematory.

Walter was born on March 11, 1933 to Archie Clinton Alexander and Dorothy Jane Smith Alexander in Douglas, WY. He was raised in rural Kay county, attending the 101 Ranch and Marland Grade Schools. He graduated from Ponca City High School in 1951. Walter married Winona Sloan in 1952. On June 28, 1983 he married Louise Ray in Ponca City. Walt loved the farm life. His joys were found in collecting tractors, tending to his cattle, and lightheartedly pestering those he loved. His passion for farm life was evidenced by his career as a livestock inspector for the Oklahoma State Department of Agriculture, from which he retired in 1999.

Survivors include his beloved wife, Louise Alexander of the home, children: Ron Alexander and wife Jane of Memphis, Tennessee, Rhonda Broker and husband Dave of Hutchinson, Kansas, Mike Sindelar of Ponca City, Rodney Alexander of McAlester, Oklahoma, Janet Myers and husband Roger of Frisco, Texas; siblings: Bertha "Sis" Augenstein and husband James of Oklahoma City, Carolyn Cronk of Oklahoma City, and Don Alexander of Midwest City, Oklahoma; grandchildren: Brandy Alexander and husband Francisco Pelaez, Derek Myers, Megan Gyly and husband Jake, Rebecca Myers, Abigail Myers, Erin Myers, Hannah Myers, Austin Sindelar, and great grandson Oliver Pelaez-Alexander.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Archie, sister, Marjorie English and granddaughter, Michelle Smith.
