Charlotte Virginia Zachary
October 21, 1942 - April 27, 2024
Charlotte Virginia Zachary of Blackwell, Oklahoma, passed away Friday evening, April 27, 2024, in the Hillcrest Manor Nursing Home at the age of 81 years.
Charlotte Virginia Zachary was born on October 21, 1942, in Ponca City, Oklahoma, to Orville William and Helen Jean (Clinton) Shouse. She grew up in Blackwell attending Blackwell Public Schools. She married Richard Ware 1959 and served her family as a homemaker. In 1972 she began working at the Blackwell Nursing Home as a nursing assistant and worked there for fifteen years. She married Raymond Zachary on August 26, 1987, in Enid, Oklahoma, and they made Blackwell their home. Following his death she worked at McDonald's for a short time. She loved caring for her grandchildren and enjoyed playing bingo and visiting the coffee shop.
She is survived by two sons, Richard Ware and wife Peggy of Moran, Texas, and Tom Ware and wife Karen of Blackwell; nine grandchildren; and fifteen great grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Barbara Burns; and three brothers, Billy, Tommy and Orville Lee Shouse.
A graveside service is scheduled for 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, May 1st in the Blackwell Cemetery with Richard Ware officiating.
A memorial has been established in her honor with the Associated Charities Food Bank, 212 E. Bridge Ave., Blackwell, Oklahoma 74631.
