Scott Lee Young of Blackwell, Oklahoma
October 6, 1980 - November 24, 2022

Scott Lee Young left this world on Thanksgiving Day, November 24, 2022, at his home in Blackwell at the age of 42. He was born in Blackwell on October 6, 1980, and spent his entire life here. He attended Blackwell Public Schools and graduated in 1999. He was a life-long member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church.

Scott was exceptionally bright, fun-loving and kind young man who was always laughing and happy. He was interested in science, astronomy and computers. He was very concerned about the environment and would preach to anyone who would listen. At age 18, he was diagnosed with bipolar disorder which prevented him from completing his education and holding a job. He fought depression and anxiety for most of his adult life. His greatest wish in life was "just to be normal."

Scott is once again united in Heaven with his beloved grandparents, Ivan and Dorothy Young, Wanda Henn and the grandfather he never knew, Vernon Henn; his aunts, Jeanne Young and Martha Henn; and his uncle, John Burns.

Scott leaves behind his loving parents, David and Leslie Young of Blackwell; his sister, Kara Young of Norman; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, December 1st in St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Blackwell with Father Balaswamy Bathini officiating. Burial will follow in the Blackwell Cemetery.

Casketbearers will be Brent Young, Matt Young, Jonathan Harrold, Brock Harrold, John Jones and Gerald Deaton.

A memorial has been established in his honor with the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) in c/o Roberts and Son Funeral Home, 120 W. Padon, Blackwell, Oklahoma 74631.
