Barbara Jean Wellman
October 20, 1938 - March 21, 2025

Barbara Jean Wellman of Blackwell, Oklahoma, passed away Friday morning, March 21, 2025, in the Stillwater Medical Center - Blackwell at the age of 86 years.

Barbara Jean Wellman was born on October 20, 1938, in Santa Ana, California, to George and Delores (Velarde) Hamon. She grew up in California and later married Donald Eugene Wellman on May 25, 1957, in Reno, Nevada, and they made their home in Chino, California. In 1974 they moved to Brighton, Colorado, where she worked as a dietician for Castle Gardens Nursing Home and they also owned and operated the Korner Kitchen restaurant in Keenesburg, Colorado. In 2001 they moved to Blackwell to retire. Her husband preceded her in death on March 27, 2014, and she continued to make Blackwell her home. She enjoyed operating the concession stand at the many little league games the family and friends were involved. She also enjoyed bowling, bingo, cooking and pushing the buttons at any casino.

She is survived by three sons, Edward L. Smith and wife Randi of Oregon, Don Wellman and wife Cyndi of Mesa, Arizona, and Brian Wellman and wife Annette of Brighton, Colorado; a very close brotherly friend, Jimmy Hooks of Kremmling, Colorado; a sister, Shirley Edward and husband Don of Arizona; a son-in-law, Dennis Moss of Blackwell; grandchildren, Damion Kimbrel, Jessica Springsteen, Nicole Smith, Brandon Wellman and Stacey, Brianne Smith, Kaila Ness and John, Dareni Wellman, Jacob Smith, Jeremy Wellman and Alexia and Morgan Perez and Paul; great grandchildren, Hailey Wellman, Mira Wellman, Jimmy Wellman, Allie Jo Wellman, Chesney Kimbrel, Keagan Wellman, Zandon Ness, Landri Kimbrel, Branson Wellman, Kindon Ness, Jodin Wellman, Amythest Wellman, Pauly Perez, Colt Perez, Todd Perez, Channing Kimbrel and Jayla Kimbrel; Paidon Ness, Kindon Ness and a great great grandson, Kaysen Zander.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Diane Moss; a brother, Ernie Hamon; a sister, Esther Hamon; a grandson, Justin Wellman; and a great grandson, Ian Wellman.

Services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 26th in the Roberts and Son Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jeff Koch officiating. Burial will follow in the Blackwell Cemetery.

Casketbearers will be Jeremy Wellman, Brandon Wellman, Donald Wellman, Branson Wellman, Jimmy Hooks and Zandon Ness.
