Earl Alfred "Shorty" Robinson of Blackwell, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Wednesday morning, August 27, 2014, in the Hillcrest Manor Nursing Home in Blackwell at the age of 93 years.

Earl Alfred "Shorty" Robinson was born on May 17, 1921, in Chanute, Kansas, to Charlie Joseph and Minnie Pearl (Toppman) Robinson. At the age of five years he moved with his family to Blackwell where he grew up and attended Blackwell Public Schools. Following his education he entered the Oklahoma National Guard 45th Infantry Division and was mobilized during World War II where he served in the European Theater. Following his honorable discharge he returned to Blackwell and began working in the core room at Acme Foundry. He married Mary "Davy" Walters on October 18, 1947, in Newkirk, Oklahoma, and they made Blackwell their home. In 1948 he began working for the Blackwell Zinc Company in the Cadmium Plant and worked there until his retirement in 1974. He enjoyed fishing and hunting, but his passion was visiting with the many friends and family he made through the years. Along with his wife, they loved to help other people. He was a member of the American Legion in Blackwell.

He is survived by his loving wife of sixty-eight years, Davy Robinson of Blackwell; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Kenneth Arthurs and Charles Robinson; and three sisters, Katie Coleman, Sadie Schultz and Leona Hill.

A graveside service is scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Friday, August 29th in the Blackwell Cemetery with Chaplain Mike Sweetman of Hospice of North Central Oklahoma officiating. Burial will follow in the Blackwell Cemetery.

A memorial has been established in his honor with Hospice of North Central Oklahoma in c/o Roberts and Son Funeral Home, 120 W. Padon, Blackwell, Oklahoma 74361.
