Bernarda Mimbela-Carrasco of Blackwell, Oklahoma, died as a result of an automobile accident near Perry on January 1, 2015, at the age of 52 years.
Bernarda Mimbela-Carrasco was born on August 20, 1962, in Santa Maria de Cuevas Chihuahua, Mexico. Raised by her grandparents, she attended local schools in Mexico. Following her education, she married Armando Mimbela-Mendoza and they settled in Chihuahua, Chihuahua, where she drove back and forth to work in El Paso, Texas. In 1994 the family moved to Odessa, Texas, where she served her family as a homemaker. In 1996, they moved to Tonkawa and a year later moved to Blackwell to make their home. She was employed at Tyson Foods in Ponca City and Southwest Cupid in Blackwell. She was a member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ponca City. She enjoyed watching soap operas and cooking for family and friends. She loved talking on the telephone, especially to her family in Mexico. Her kind heart and giving spirit was evident in the many ways she assisted others. She was a mother to many people and a friend to all.
She is survived by her husband, Armando Mimbela-Mendoza of Blackwell; a daughter, Lizeth Mimbela of Blackwell; two sons, Gerardo Mimbela and wife Ashley of Edmond, and Alexandro Mimbela of Blackwell; two grandchildren, Kailey and Kelan Mimbela of Edmond; and the entire Mimbela and Carrasco families.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
A funeral mass is scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Saturday, January 10th in the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Blackwell with Father Kevin Ratterman of St. Mary’s Catholic Church officiating. Burial will follow in the Blackwell Cemetery.
Casketbearers will be Gerardo Mimbela-Carrasco, Ricardo Avila-Carrasco, Cesar Hervey Avila-Carrasco, Juan Jose Avila-Carrasco and Mauro Enrique Sotelo Carrasco. Serving as honorary casketbearers will be Alexandro Mimbela, Jose Luis Avila-Carrasco and Cecilio Avila Carrasco.
A fund has been established for the Mimbela family at BancFirst in Blackwell.
