Alberta Jean Hoose of Blackwell, Oklahoma, passed away on Friday, November 22, 2024, in the Renaissance of Stillwater in Stillwater, Oklahoma, at the age of 80 years.

Alberta Jean Hoose was born on January 26, 1944, in Blackwell to Carl Albert and Mattie Roberta (Miller) Peters. She grew up in Blackwell attending Blackwell Public Schools and graduated from Blackwell High School in 1962. She furthered her education by attending Northwestern Oklahoma State University in Alva where she received bachelors degree in education and later a masters degree in education from Oklahoma University. She married Charles Lloyd Hoose on September 10, 1971, and they made Blackwell their home. She taught elementary school in the Blackwell Public School system for forty-one years. She was named Teacher of the Year in 1986. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church. She also held memberships in Blackwell Educator’s Association, Oklahoma Education Association and the Blackwell chapter of American Association of University Women. She was honored in the Whose Who Among American Teachers in 1996 and served as president of the Cimarron Reading Council for four years. She enjoyed reading, playing the piano and attending concerts, but her greatest passion was teaching children.

She is survived by two sons, Charles Wayne Hoose and James Lloyd Hoose; a daughter, Patricia Jean Hoose; a friend, Kathy Flaherty; and several grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 4th in the First Baptist Church in Blackwell with Rev. Mark Meador officiating. Burial will follow in the Blackwell Cemetery.

A memorial has been established with the Blackwell Public School Foundation, 201 E. Blackwell Ave, Blackwell, Oklahoma 74631.
