Younghee Louise Higgins
December 3, 1949 - September 8, 2022
Younghee Louise Higgins, faithful servant of the Lord Jesus Christ, went home to be with her Lord the morning of September 8, 2022.
Younghee was born on December 3, 1949, in Chinju, South Korea. She graduated from Chinju High School in 1968. Her family is still living in South Korea.
At the age of 28, she was invited to go to New York City and attended the Fashion Institute of Technology where she became a fashion designer with the Cheryl Tiegs line of clothing. The company sent her to South Korea as a quality control manager. It was there she met Chaplain (LTC) Hardie Mack Higgins. A friendship blossomed into a loving relationship and the two were married on April 15, 1988. Hardie called Younghee his princess. In 1996 she graduated with a Bachelor of Theology degree from Christian University.
In 2006 Youngee and Hardie moved to Newkirk, Oklahoma. They both loved their community and had a passion to share the love of their Savior with everyone they met. Even after Hardie's death on January 23, 2012, Younghee continued to be a faithful witness for her Lord. It was in her hearts' desire for the churches of Newkirk to unite to grow the Kingdom of God.
Survivors include a sister, DeKim Hur; brother, Chang Mu Seo; nephew, Jeong Wonsuhn; son, Christopher Higgins; daughter, Leslie Higgins Sykes and husband Matthew; grandson, Jesse Sykes; a spiritual daughter, Earlene Frink; sisters-in-law, Jacque Graham, Eleanore Johnson; and close friends Greg and Constance Meyer, Cheryl Smith, Carol Cook, Jeng Smith, Suhk.suh; as well as many other friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mansu Heo and Chong Lim Chon; her husband, Hardie Higgins; and brothers-in-law, Hal Graham, and Ralph Johnson.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, September 12, 2022, in the outdoor chapel at Blackwell Cemetery with Greg Meyer and Carol Cook officiating.
