Geraldine (Bush-Ewy) Walton went to be with her Lord on Monday, December 30, 2013, at the Hillcrest Manor Nursing Home in Blackwell, Oklahoma, at the age of 85 years.

Geraldine (Bush-Ewy) Walton was born on October 23, 1928, in Kansas City, Missouri. She was the daughter of Joseph and Bernice (Payne) Bush. At the age of five she moved with her family to Cherryvale, Kansas, where her father owned a restaurant in Parsons, Kansas. At the age of nine her family moved to Blackwell where she finished her education. In 1947 she married Elmer “Bud” Ewy and they made their home in Blackwell and raised three children, Cathy, Larry and Jeffrey. In 1960 she entered nursing school and after completion of her education she began working at the Blackwell General Hospital as the Ob-Gyn nurse for fifteen years. In 1973 she moved to Kansas and continued her nurse's training in Topeka, Kansas. Following her training she began working in Cardio-Vascular Care. In her free time she loved writing and painting. In 1994 she returned to Blackwell. She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, a past president of the American Legion Ladies’ Auxiliary, Blackwell Cheerleaders Booster Club, and the Girls’ Softball Boosters. She felt her life had truly been blessed.

She is survived by a daughter, Cathy Peetoom and husband Robert of Nardin, Oklahoma; a son, Jeffery Ewy and wife Connie of Louisburg, Kansas; eleven grandchildren; and seventeen great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Bernice Bush; husband, Elmer “Bud” Ewy; a brother, Cecil Bush; and a son, Larry Ewy Sr.

Services are scheduled for Thursday, January 2, 2014, at 2:00 p.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church with Rev. Ned Moerbe officiating. Burial will follow in the Blackwell Cemetery.

Casketbearers will be Ryan Peetoom, Travis Peetoom, Bradey Ewy, Billy Ewy, Tyler Ewy, Larry Ewy Jr., Joe Ewy, and Mitchell Ewy.

A memorial has been established in her memory with the Trinity Lutheran Church or the Blackwell Elementary School Library in c/o Roberts and Son Funeral Home, 120 W. Padon, Blackwell, Oklahoma. 74631.

On April 19, 2009, Elmer Glen “Bud” Ewy went to be with his Lord and Savior. Bud was born on March 1, 1921, in Perry, Oklahoma, to Rudolph and Ann (Smith) Ewy. He grew up and attended Perry Public Schools. In May of 1942 he volunteered and entered the United States Army Air Corps serving in France, Belgium and Germany during which time he was awarded three bronze stars. He was honorably discharged as a Sergeant in the 253rd Infantry Division in 1946. Following his discharge he moved to Blackwell, Oklahoma, and began working for the Blackwell Zinc Company. He married Geraldine Bush on September 27, 1946, and they made Blackwell their home. He continued working at the smelter until the plant closed in 1974. While working for Blackwell Zinc, he studied and became a gunsmith and operated Bud’s Gun Shop from his home in Blackwell. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening and attending sporting events. He sponsored a Blackwell little league baseball team called “Bud’s Gun Shop.” He loved his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren with all of his heart. He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Blackwell.

He is survived by his wife, Geraldine of the home; a daughter, Cathy Peetoom and husband Robert of Nardin, Oklahoma; a son, Jeffrey Ewy and wife Connie of Louisburg, Kansas; eleven grandchildren, and fourteen great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Larry Glen Ewy Sr.; and four sisters, Hellen Ingmire, Betty Balzer, Faye Schelenburg and Delores Moore.

Services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, April 22nd in the Trinity Lutheran Church in Blackwell with the Rev. Tom Ramsey of Ponca City officiating. Burial will follow in the Blackwell Cemetery with military rites performed by the Blackwell American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Serving as casketbearers will be Robert Peetoom, Mike Ewy, Ron Clinton, Gary Ingmire, Max Ruggs and Jim Irwin. Honorary casketbearers will be Ryan Peetoom, Travis Peetoom, Larry Ewy Jr., Joseph Ewy, Mitchell Ewy, Bradey Ewy, Billy Ewy, Tyler Ewy, and Richard Ashford.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Lutheran Women’s Kitchen Fund or the Land of Opportunity Village in Ponca City in c/o Roberts and Son Funeral Home, 120 W. Padon, Blackwell, OK 74631.
