Billy Leon Ellis of Blackwell, Oklahoma, died Friday, June 2, 2023, at his home at the age of 67 years.
Billy Leon Ellis was born on January 30, 1956, in Blackwell to Lawrence Edward and Norma Jean (Challis) Ellis. He grew up in Blackwell and graduated from Blackwell High School in 1974. He served eight years in the Oklahoma National Guard. He married Charlotte Newland on Decmeber 18, 1981, and they made Blackwell their home.
He loved to hunt, fish, and play bingo. He especially enjoyed giving his grandchildren a hard time and family gatherings that gave him a chance to cook.
He is survived by his wife, Charlotte of Blackwell; two daughters, Deborah Lynn McClafflin and Stephanie Fox; a son, Michael Wayne Gaither; a brother, Lawrence LeRoy Ellis; a sister, Virginia Corless; nine grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Janet Dee Butzback; sister, Sherry Little and Karen Ford; and a brother, Charles Ellis.
A memorial graveside service is scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Friday, June 9th in the Blackwell Cemetery with the family officiating.
