James Robert “Jim” Cronin of Blackwell, Oklahoma passed away on August 9, 2021 at Stillwater Medical Center - Blackwell at the age of 66 years.

James Robert “Jim” Cronin was born on August 9, 1955, in Ponca City, Oklahoma, the son of Robert Bersche “Bob” Cronin and Virginia Pauline (Cannon) Cronin.

He graduated from Blackwell High School in 1973 and earned his Associates of Science from NOC in 1975. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from the University of Oklahoma in 1979, ultimately becoming a Doctor of Pharmacy.

Jim married Cherry Detert on June 16, 1983 in Blackwell, Oklahoma.

He is survived by the love of his life and soulmate, his wife Cherry (Detert) Cronin; sisters, Jennie (Cronin) Sisney, Carolyn (Cronin) Gray; daughters, Erica (Cronin) Jones, Mandy (Cronin) Raymond, Laura (Cronin) Endiott; step-children, Allen Squires, Shannon (Squires) Ingels; as well as, several nieces, nephews, and many grandchildren which whom he loved and adored to no end.

He was preceded in death by his parents; uncles, Lawrence “Larry” Goodson Cannon, Joe Cannon; Grandma, Jennie (Goodson)Cannon, Grandpa, Lawrence S. Cannon; great-grandma, Dora Berry Goodson; great-grandpa Ola Goodson; nephews, Garrett Harris and Robert “Bobby” Thilsted.

Jim worked for Alliance Health and St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center in Ponca City, Oklahoma, until retiring in August of 2020.

Jim enjoyed spending time with his wife, kids, and grandchildren, Cardinal birds, football, his OU sooners, his grandkids, watching a good wholesome feel-good movie, tabernacle, holy grounds coffee shop, breakfast with his guys, ministering to anybody he would meet. He never met a stranger. He loved God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit with all his might, and ministering and spreading joy wherever he would go, he would light up a room with his warmth and love.

Public viewing will be held from 9:00 a.m. until noon on Monday, Augusts 16, 2021 at Roberts and Son Funeral Home.

Private family services will be held at Blackwell Cemetery.

A memorial service to celebrate Jim’s life will be held at a later date.
