Carrie Belle Bushman was born February 27, 1894, in Dexter, Cowley Co., Kansas. She was the daughter of John Henry Bushman and Rachel Barbara (Billbe) Bushman.
She was married November 30, 1911, in LaHarpe, Allen Co., Kansas, to Lewie Vern Cheney. They were parents of at least five children including Chester and Rowena.
Carrie's mother died in 1918 due to an accident, which left young siblings of Carrie at her father's home in Blackwell. In the 1920 census of Blackwell, Kay Co., Oklahoma, Carrie and her husband Lewie Cheney, who was working at the furnaces at the zinc smelter, and their small two children, Chester and Rowena, were sharing their home with Carrie's father John Henry Bushman who was working at the zinc smelter, and two of Carrie's sisters, Louise and Wilma, and her brother James Bushman, and also Lewie's mother.
Carrie Belle Cheney died April 19, 1962, in Ulysses, Grant Co., Kansas.
Survivors included her husband and children; three sisters, Mrs. Anna May Collyar of Blackwell, Oklahoma, Mrs. Louise ?Hembree, and Mrs. Wilma Love; five brothers, Frank Bushman, Herschel Bushman, Daniel Bushman, Robert Bushman and James Bushman.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother Henry Bushman; and a sister Nora Pear Bushman.
Burial was April 21, 1962 in Blackwell IOOF Cemetery in Blackwell, Kay Co. Oklahoma, Grave location is Block 324, L/R 4, Space 5. Her husband died in 1968 and was buried beside her.
