John Henry Bushman was born January 28, 1874 in Illinois; he died March 24, 1933 in Blackwell, Kay County, Oklahoma; and was buried at the IOOF Cemetery in Blackwell, Oklahoma beside his wife Rachel, buried Block 104, L/R 1, S 8.
He was married March 19, 1893 in Dexter, Cowley County, Kansas to Rachel Barbara Billbe, she died June 13, 1918, in Blackwell, Kay County, Oklahoma and was buried in Blackwell IOOF Cemetery in Blackwell, Kay Co., Oklahoma. His wife died after a tragic accident, a fall at their home in Blackwell, when she was about fourty-two years of age. When his wife died in 1918, there were eight children under the age of eighteen. The oldest children of Rachael and John Henry raised the younger children.
John Henry and Rachel Barbara (Billbe) Bushman had twelve children: (1)Carrie Belle Bushman who married Lewie V. Cheney; (2)Anna May Bushman married Earl Edward Collyar; (3) Frank Sanford Bushman; (4) Henry Oliver Bushman, he is buried in Coffey Co., Kansas (5) Herschel Charles Bushman; (6) Daniel Webster Bushman; (7) Nora Pearl Bushman, died in 1907 in La Harpe, Allen Co., Kansas; (8)Robert Wallace Bushman; (9) Ermine Louise Bushman married Claude Gravel, Jesse C. Mitchell, and James L. Hembree; (10) James Donald Bushman; (11) Wilma Lea Bushman married Percy R. Love, they are buried in Resthaven Cemetery near Ponca City, Oklahoma; and (12) Child Bushman, name unknown to this submitter who died ?June 13, 1918. Rachel was either expecting a child or this is the child she was rocking the day of her accident and it died the next day. It was probably buried with it's mother at Blackwell Cemetery.
Before his death he was employed at the smelter in Blackwell.
He was survived by six sons; Frank, Henry, Herschel, Daniel, Robert, and James Donald; and four daughters, Carrie, Anna, Ermine Louise, and Wilma; grandchildren; and other family members.
He was preceded in death by his wife Rachel, and two children, Nora Bushman who died in 1907 in Kansas, and one child whose name is unknown to this submitter who died as an infant. Several of his children are buried in Blackwell and in Kay County.
