Arlene Ethyl Farrington Burkhalter passed from this life peacefully in her home at The Veraden Retirement Center in Edmond, Oklahoma on Monday July 23, 2018 at the age of 90 years. She simply took a last couple of deep breaths and bravely followed the perpetual light to her eternal reward. Some say that her husband Max Burkhalter was waiting at heaven’s gate to lead her to the dancefloor in heaven.

Arlene was born the fifth and youngest child of Floyd Hemin Farrington and Maude Ethyl Hill Farrington on April 9, 1928 in Blackwell, Oklahoma. Arlene graduated at Blackwell High School with honors. She married Max Burkhalter June 9, 1951 in Blackwell, OK.

Arlene is survived by her two sons Bruce (wife Rita) of Edmond, OK and Roger (wife Sue) of Norman, OK. Arlene is also survived by her son in law Brian Tate (wife Sally), of Florida. She has 3 granddaughters, Cherrell Schat, of Moore, OK, Elizabeth Tate and Kathrine Tate Kerr (husband Gordon Kerr) both of Atlanta, GA. Her grandsons are Glenn Burkhalter (wife Stephanie) of Wichita Falls, TX and Mason Burkhalter (wife Rachel) of Norman, OK.

She has six great- grandchildren to survive her, Zach Schat, Wyatt Schat both of Tulsa, OK, Devon Burkhalter and Valerie Burkhalter both of Wichita Falls, TX, Teddy Burkhalter of Norman, OK and Kendall Tate of Florida.

She was preceded in death by her husband Max, daughter Deborah Tate, daughter in law Kay Burkhalter, grandson in law Jimmy Schat and her great granddaughter Victoria Schat.

A graveside service is scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 28th in the Blackwell Cemetery with Rev. Cap McIlnay of the First United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will follow in the Blackwell Cemetery.
