Geneva Ruth Berger funeral services will be 10 a.m. Tuesaday, Sept. 29, 2009, at Christian Church of the Covenant, Enid, Oklahoma, with Rev. Pat Sutherlin and Rev. Ron Pingelton officiating. Burial will be 2:30 p.m. in Blackwell Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted with Brown-Cummings Funeral Home.
Geneva Ruth Burger was born Sept. 7, 1917, in Mulhall, Oklahoma, to Carl and Mabel Thomas. She went home to her heavenly father on Friday, Sept. 25, 2009.
Geneva graduated from Blackwell High School and graduated from business college in Tonkawa. Geneva was the secretary to the superintendant of Blackwell schools and moved to Alva in 1968 to work for Northwestern Oklahoma State University.
Geneva was an active member of First Christian Church in Alva, Oklahoma.
Geneva is loved by daughters, Geneva Ann Herndon, Patrice Leigh Taliaferro and husband, Perry Taliaferro; grandchildren, Heather Herndon, Heath and Danielle Herndon, Valerie and Brent Perkins; brother-in-law, Ken Scheidt; many nephews and nieces; great nephews and nieces; and great-great-nephews and nieces and friends.
Her parents, Carl and Mabel Thomas, and sisters, Ester “Jo” Scheidt, Donna Houser and Cora Milligan preceded her in death.
Geneva was a beloved mother and a devoted grandma who was a wonderful cook. We love you and you will be missed greatly.
