Ryan Scott Brown of Edmond, Oklahoma, passed away late Monday evening, March 21, 2016, in the O.U. Medical Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, at the age of 33 years. Ryan Scott Brown was born on May 20, 1982, in Blackwell to Donald Ray and Kathleen Ann (Jacks) Brown. He was baptized on June 13, 1982, in the Trinity Lutheran Church. He grew up in Blackwell attending Blackwell Public Schools and graduated from Blackwell High School in 2000. He furthered his education by attending Concordia University in St. Paul, Minnesota, for a year and completed his associate’s degree at Northern Oklahoma College in Enid. While in school he was active in Boy Scouts of America where he began as a Tiger Cub and advanced and earned the high rank of Eagle Scout. Ryan was an active member of his church, including the youth group and choir. He also served as a Red Cross volunteer and was always ready to help others in need. In 2013, he moved to Iowa where he began working as a data analyst for I.B.M Corporation. On June 7, 2014, he married Christi D. Rhodd in Dubuque, Iowa, and they began their life there along with his two step-daughters, Zoe and Kyah. Following economic lay-offs with his company, they returned to Oklahoma and make Edmond their home. Throughout his young life, Ryan touched the hearts of many family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Christi Brown of Edmond; two step-daughters, Zoe and Kyah Hoar; his parents, Don and Kathleen Brown of Blackwell; two brothers, Aaron Brown of Mustang, and Terry Brown of Gilmer, Texas; as well as aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, LeRoy and Viola Jacks and Harold and Betty Brown.
Services are scheduled for 1:00 p.m., Good Friday, March 25th in the Trinity Lutheran Church in Blackwell with Rev. Ned Moerbe officiating. Burial will follow in the Blackwell Cemetery. The family will be hosting visitation at Roberts and Son Funeral Home on Thursday, March 24, from 6:00-8:00p.m.
Casketbearers will be Aaron Brown, Brady Smith, Trent Matthiesen, Steven Loftis, Craig Nicholson and Luke McKee.
A memorial has been established in his honor with the Trinity Lutheran Church in c/o Roberts and Son Funeral Home, 120 W. Padon, Blackwell, Oklahoma 74631.
