Rama Eleanor Barnes of Blackwell, Oklahoma, died Friday evening, April 22, 2011, in the Wesley Medical Center, Wichita, Kansas, at the age of 13 years.

Rama Eleanor Barnes was born on August 30, 1997 in Joplin, Missouri, to Merle Dan and Laura Fay (Ellis) Bradshaw. She enjoyed playing sports. She played basketball, ran track and was water girl for the Jr. High football team. The sport she enjoyed most was softball. Rama played softball for Blackwell Jr. High, the Blasters team in Blackwell league and the Blue Ice softball team, which was an area traveling team. She liked going to rodeos, car rallies and riding Harleys with her dad. Rama was also a straight A student.

Rama is survived by her parents Daniel and Amy Barnes of Blackwell; maternal grandmother, Vera Paige of Blackwell; maternal grandparents, George and Rama Fay Ellis of Mt Vernon, Missouri; great grandmother, Lora Rector of Blackwell; two sisters, Katelynn Decosta and Kristina Shikles both of Blackwell; three brothers, Angus Akin of Neosho, Missouri, Andrew Akin of Aurora Missouri, and Tony Akin of Joplin, Missouri; five uncles, Bob Paige, Kenneth Paige, Terry Paige, Chris Barnes and Dustin Wells; plus numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Rama is preceded in death by her biological mother, Laura Bradshaw; grandfather, Bob Paige; and grandmother, Paula Young.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 27, 2011, in the Blackwell High School Auditorium with the Rev. Vernon Stone of the Pentecostal Church of God in Bokoshe, Oklahoma, officiating. Burial will follow at the Blackwell Cemetery in Blackwell, Oklahoma.

Casketbearers will be Norm Dollarhide, Jeff Gilmore, Chris Prince, Tim Bonewell, Jason Lenon, Tim Grove, Jonathan Knepper and Jonathan Whicker.

Honorary casketbearers will be the Blue Ice Softball Team and the Blasters Softball Team.

A memorial has been established in her honor with the Blackwell City Softball League in c/o Roberts and Son Funeral Home, 120 W. Padon, Blackwell, Oklahoma 74631.
