Funeral Services for Mr. James Foster "Pos" Owens, 74, of
Tishomingo, Oklahoma will be held on Monday, May 12th, 2014 at 11:00 a. m. in
the Herb Clark Memorial Chapel at Clark Funeral Service in Tishomingo with
Pastor Joey Lansdale officiating. Interment will follow in the Tishomingo
Cemetery. Mr. Owens passed away on May 6th, 2014 at his home.
James was born on November 5th, 1939 in Colorado City, Texas to Troy Owens and
Cleo (Ursury) Owens. He graduated from high school and attended one year of
college at Oklahoma State University. He served in the United States Army during
the pre-Vietnam Era and was honorably discharged. Mr. Owens worked for many
years as a Commercial Painting contractor, mostly in the Oklahoma City
metropolitan area. His passion outside of his work was raising and fighting game
roosters, which he did until his declining health required him to retire
completely.
Mr. Owens was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Betty and the mother
of his children, Mary.
James is survived by his son, Jimmy Owens and wife Ann of Tishomingo, his
daughter, Gayla Owens of Madill, Oklahoma, six grandchildren, two
great-grandchildren, two step-brothers, Mike and Ron Baker, both of Oklahoma
City, other relatives and friends.
Casket Bearers for the service will be family and friends.
A time of visitation will be held on Sunday, May 11th, from 2-5 pm, at the
funeral home.
