Funeral Services for Mr. Charles Alan Nichols, 73, of Hunt,
Texas, will be held on Monday, April 30th, 2012 at 11:00 a. m. in the First
Baptist Church of Tishomingo, Oklahoma with Rev. James Woodard officiating.
Interment will follow in the Tishomingo Cemetery. Mr. Nichols passed away on
April 25th, 2012 in Sherman, Texas.
Charles was born on March 5th, 1939 in Madill, Oklahoma to Earl W. Nichols and
Clara Lee (Locke) Nichols. He graduated from Tishomingo High School in 1957 and
was the Senior Class President. He graduated from Murray State College and
afterward, served in the United States Army for 2 years. He married Shirley
Tribble on September 2nd, 1961 in Farmington, New Mexico. After his honorable
discharge, he attended and received his Bachelor's Degree from Northern Arizona
University in Flagstaff, Arizona. He worked for El Paso Natural Gas while in
Arizona. In 1971,Charles received the National Science Foundation Fellowship to
Louisiana State University, where he received his Master's Degree in 1973. He
taught Biology and Chemistry in Marietta, Oklahoma before moving to Sherman,
Texas where he taught Science for 28 years before retiring in 1995 and moving to
the hill country outside of Kerrville, Texas. He was also a 32 degree Mason and
loved country music and the outdoors.
Charles was preceded in death by his
parents.
He is survived by his wife Shirley, of the home; his son David Nichols and Karen
of Sherman, Texas; his daughter, Carrie and Zac Blount of Kerrville, Texas; two
brothers, Kenneth Nichols and wife Nora of Tishomingo, Oklahoma and Dennis
Nichols of San Antonio, Texas; his grandchildren, Hunter, Fallon, Lauren and Ky,
as well as, many other relatives and friends.
