Clark Funeral Service

Funeral Services for Gerald R. Alloway, 84, of Tishomingo will be held on Friday, February 5, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. in the First United Methodist Church with Rev.'s Jimmy Horath and John Corbin officiating. Interment will follow in the Tishomingo Cemetery with Military Honors provided by the Chickasaw Nation Honor Guard. Pallbearers for the service will be: his grandchildren. Honorary Bearers will be: Charlie Locke, Jim Schammerhorn, Fred Poe and Dennis Towes. Mr. Alloway passed away on Tuesday, February 2nd, at the Mercy Memorial Health Center in Ardmore.

Gerald was born on May 20, 1925 in Neodesha, Kansas to John L. Alloway and Laura Ellen Houchins Alloway. He grew up in Drumright, Oklahoma and during his school years there, became an Eagle Scout. After high school he served in the United States Army Air Corps from 1943 until 1945. Gerald married Sybil Jay on March 27, 1945 in Drumright. Mr. Alloway was a very educated man receiving his education from the University of Oklahoma, Oklahoma State University, the University of Wyoming at Laramie, the University of Utah at Salt Lake City, his Bachelor's Degree from the University of Tulsa and his Master's Degree from Southeastern State University in Durant. He taught mathematics for 37 years, 35 of which were at Murray State College. He was also a member of the First United Methodist Church.

Mr. Alloway was preceded in death by his parents; his twin sister, Geraldine; two infant brothers, Max & John and his great-grandson, Robert Anderson.

He is survived by his wife Sybil, of the home; his son & daughter-in-law, Sam & Donna Alloway of Tuttle, Oklahoma; his daughter & son-in-law, Dianne & Eddie Hogue of Coalgate; his grandsons & their wives, Dustin & Valarie Hogue of Seminole, Jonathan & Jerry Hogue of Coalgate; his granddaughters, Ashley Alloway of Ft. Worth, Texas, Leslie Alloway of Union City, Oklahoma, Audrey Davidson of Ft. Worth and Danielle Anderson of Shawnee, Oklahoma; his sister, Margarite Butcher of Pomona, California; eleven great-grandchidren; one great-great-grandchild; two nieces and two nephews; other relatives and friends.
